  1. Winter is finally here in the UK I guess so If you like the white stuff, I hope you are out making snowmen (or snow bunnies as one of my neighbours has done on their wall!), sledging and making snow angels! The park near where I live was the busiest I have seen it since the summer; this is the view from the bottom of the hill (University of the Creative Arts in the background).

If you are not a fan, why not try some winter inspired embroidery? This would be a great time to get out these lovely iridescent snowflake sequins and work some seasonal stitching...

They are available in my shop if you are inspired! Click here. Also new in the shop this month are size 10 beading needles. Extra long, with a sharp point and long thin eye, they are great for those hand beading projects and sewing on sequins. Get yours here

  2. So finally a stitch show comes to Kent! 'Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts' is currently on at the Bluewater Glow Venue in Kent (finishes Sunday, so if you are local you still have time!). Bluewater boasts to be the largest retail and leisure destination in Europe so it's an unusual place to hold a stitching show. There were lots of local business as well as some big well known names in the textile world. There are lots of chances to have a go yourself in embroidery, art and papercrafts, a fashion show to sit and enjoy, and of course lots to buy!

The highlight for me is this fabulous knitted sea world 'Below and above the waves'. The inspiration of Alison and Ann Murray, 2000 knitters from all around the world contributed to this project by knitting fish, seagulls, coral, jellyfish, seaweed and lots more! There is a nearly full size beautiful mermaid and a fisherman (of course both knitted!)

Walk through the underwater world to see all the different creatures atmospherically lit to transport you into the deep!

Oh, I nearly forget to mention, if you are a fan of 'Downton Abbey' there are also costumes from the series on display!
