Use this acid free tissue paper to protect your work while and after working on it.

Paper is made from wood pulp which contains natural acids. During production of acid free papers these acids are neutralised giving the paper a neutral or basic Ph7 (or slightly greater). This means that the acids from the paper won't transfer onto your work.
