About the artisans:
These beautiful stoles are block printed in the workshop of Sufiyan Khatri from Ajrakhpur village in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India (see Sufiyan with Chacha his labourer in the photos!). The word Ajrakh is derived from the word Azarukh which means blue in Persian. They are printed with hand made wooden blocks in traditional Ajrakh designs. Each stole goes through several different printing and dying processes (over 16!) to get the layers of different colours and natural dyes are used including Indigo and vegetable dyes.
By buying this gift you are supporting these amazing artisans in the very difficult current climate we all find ourselves in.
